Inspired by yy...
Non dimenticar mio - by -Emptiness-
In fear we hugged, my baby and I,
Huddled together in the icy cold.
Knowing that the moment is nigh,
As boot steps echoed, from down below.
Dressed in black, an angel of death,
Faceless under his hooded cloak,
Walked up the stairs, with heavy breaths.
Ready to kill, without provoke,
He grabbed her hair, and dragged her out,
Her desperate screams filling the air.
I tried my best, struggling throughout,
With a valiant fight that was rare.
With just my fists I jumped at him,
Without a care, to get her back,
But hindered by a broken limb,
My struggle ended with a stab.
Exhausted, in pain, yet still I tried,
In vain, to reach, and touch her hand.
Hot tears streamed down as I cried,
A pain that none can understand.
Recall, still I, though it’s long ago,
With half shut eyes, and a cigarette,
The words she cried out in the snow.
Remember me, don’t forget,
Non dimenticar mio.
Thanks to yy for teaching me this interesting phrase... Non dimentica mio... its italian for don't forget me... Looks cool to have some language other than english in an english poem... (except for chinese, which i'll not even consider putting into english poems =P) But I muz say sorrie cause she told me to write some more cheery poem for the new year, but what the hack? Don't forget me? I can't think of anything cheery.... haha.... nvm... next time then...
For those who are interested, the poem is about a couple, in World War II, one German, the other Jew (the gal), and as you all know, the Jewish purge.... I think it still need some work, but what the hack, I've been at this for the last 2 hours.... Enough pain for a day.... Though I must confess that what someone I know once told me is true --
That there is a pleasure in pain
